DIGNITY OF WOMAN AT STAKE

Woman on one hand are said to be worshiped in our nation and on the other hand contemporary advertisement world has not left a single stone unturned to depict women as a commodity for sale. Leaving behind, all the ethics and moral. The dignity of women is at stake. There are several advertisements telecasted which represent things in erroneous approach.

Beauty has become a synonym for successful women. Several cosmetic products depict this idea through their advertisements. Fair complexion is being portrayed as a necessary qualification for success in professional and personal life. Where as these things have no meaning and logic. Still it generates inferiority complex among young girls who are not physically presentable or fair.

The other advertisement which has ruined the dignity of women is of ‘deodorants for men’. The emotions of women are set for sale. A woman is not so weak in her emotions that it can be driven away by mere the fragrance of a deodorant. One of the electronic media channel gave news that such obscene advertisement would be banned from 1st June 2011. However it is still being telecasted and woman is portrayed as a figure which can be seduced by mere exotic aroma.

It is strange that how concerned authorities allow these kinds of advertisements to be telecasted where moral obligations have no place.
Respect of women is the basis of respect of family in our society and this is what we are taught. Placing her dignity for sale is mean and unkind. Woman has great power to keep her feelings under veil. Her purity should not be set for sale.
