Tuning into the television a few days ago with a great curiosity to watch the new serial aired on’ zee tv’, my aspirations with the serial vanquished. Promos of the serial ‘Housewife’ were true teasers which were enough for the viewers to follow it. To my surprise the story was plotted in Allahabad, which is my city.

The excitement crossed the limits when I sited real locations of the city. But in a few moments all the interest sublimated when I saw a female character in serial supposedly the daughter of the family using a language which never ever a girl from a good decent family would use. Inspired by the character of ‘Komal’ from daily soup ‘Pratigya’ the director has come out with such a nuisance.

Before the serial get aired the people responsible should take care whether what they have portrayed about a place is correct or not. There are several dilects in UP and many in Allahabad as well, many women who hail from village use them. But never the street language is used by women here.

The indecent language popularized by ‘Pratigya’ was also used by female character ‘Komal’, but there the scene was different. Komal was uneducated, had a family which was criminal based. But here the daughter comes from a good family all her brothers are well employed, has working bhabhis. Only her husband is another idiot fellow who is deliberately made speak the dilect of Allahabad and both of them are creating blunders.

Director sahib it’s an urge either use actors who are capable to imitate the real ascent of a place or don’t get involved in such practice. And if in case any of your team member hails from Allahabad, he or she should be ashamed as by your serial you are defaming the women of Allahabad.
