Effigy of Benevolence: Woman

Women’s Day is here again!!
A day when women around the globe are recognized as ‘angels on earth’. Though for a few hours, existence of women is reckoned, honored, appreciated and is talked about.
8th of March is recognized as Women’s Day by United Nations Organization.

Celebrating Women's Day should not merely confine to offers and subsidies in jeweler and garment shops. Making a Day Special for your ‘woman’; your mother, sister, wife and daughter is not the objective of the day. It demands a special place for them throughout their life in this patriarchal society.

From the time immemorial women have faced lot of difficulties to make their own place. But this beautiful creation of divinity has been bequeathed with enough control and serenity and has evolved as a powerful mortal. Women as a daughter, wife or mother gratify her relations and diligently stand by her duties and responsibilities towards her family. She has been conferred with a majestic wand which helps her balance her life as a homemaker and a working woman.

Womanhood of India is emerging out their cocoon and is shining out. Pratibha Patil being the first lady President of India has inspired every woman to perceive the genius within them. Be it be politics or sports, space or glamour, corporate world or social venture, women have entered every sphere and have proved their capabilities. Sonia Gandhi, Meera Kumar, Sania Mirza, Saina Nehwal, Chanda Kochar, Aishwarya Rai… and the list goes on. Today innumerable women have grabbed the opportunities to prove to have individuality on the global platform.

At the same time, relevance of Women's Day get endangered when we think about the women who are deprived of their rights and are not allowed to place their foot out of their periphery. They don’t get opportunity for their personal development. They lack education, conscience and awareness of their rights; they are victims of domestic violence and much more. Crime against women is not confined to uneducated women or rural areas; it is a prominent occurrence in urban societies and even in vicinity where most educated and civilized people reside.

More of education, enlightenment, and awareness are mandatory to provide women with what they deserve. Women should respect women and men should create for them a place of equal status. Mere celebration should not be the endeavor of the day. Efforts should be made to fill the future of the women with sanguine rays and splendor.

Let wisdom dawn on every being, and it would be great day for humanity when every individual will share equal eminence, be it be Adam or Eve.
