2010-A Shady Year !

T
he year 2010 is ending with the hearsay, in spite of two years long investigation now eminent Arushi Murder Case would be shut. This news is not only shock for the friends and family of Arushi Talwar but also for the populace of the nation who anticipate some stroke against transgression.

The shut down has put in a big question mark on the competence of the C.B.I. When this case came in lime light every commoner covet to witness who has perform this type of misdemeanor. This case because of labors of Indian Media was in lime illumination for many days.  This case was not only investigated by state police, Central agency and the Central Bureau of Investigation but the upshot is thumbs down.

This case can be compared to a movie where first police suspected the person who was himself dead in the same case. Yes I am talking about Talwar’s Servant Hemraj who was the first person who was supposed in the case but his own dead body was recovered from the Terrace. Then after that investigating agencies alleged scores of people including Arushi’s father Dr. Talwar but the conclusion is zilch. Media Trial in this case was also not cherished.

Now when C.B.I has also capitulated from the examination of this case this can be avowed that till now the so called mistakes were pre-planned. On first day of the instance when dead body of Hemraj was on patio police not even thought of stopover the place. Allegation put on him; police not only tried to shut down the case but also lend a hand in annihilate the evidence. Then when body was recovered the assertion was shifted to the Talwar duo then the second servant, driver, comp ponder they were not only examined but also detained and alleged. This simply shows the competence of the Investigating Agencies of our nation.

Not merely Arushi Case but we can also observe Ruchika Gehrotra Case where also investigating agency was mislaid. Whether it’s the Nithari Case where whole accusation were put on the servant Surendra Kohli and the Pandher at this instant is unsoiled. These are some of the paradigm which has ruined the competence of the Investigating Agencies of our country.

This year was the Corruption Year where we can see several protagonists who can assert the Most Corrupt Consign. I would like to memorize the year for personage like Sachin Tendulkar, Saina Nehwal, Sushil Kumar, Nitish Kumar, Vinayak Sen. Populace got U.I.D and our currency Rupees got its sign are also bonus of the year. And undoubtedly I don’t want to have down pat fraudulent like A.Raja, Suresh Kalmadi and Meera Radia.

Congress Book – the partly truth

O
n the occasion of 125th Establishment Day of Indian National Congress a book has been published. This book can simply be stated as a medium which is detriment ling the history.   The most fallacious part of the book named “Congress and the making of the nation” is all the vindictiveness shown by the party at the time of Emergency months had been curbed to Sanjay Gandhi and not the party.

I undoubtedly agree that some of the decisions of Sanjay Gandhi made the situation most awful not only for the populace but also for the party. But Congress has overlook that Sanjay Gandhi is fraction of the party. And till now party was silent on his role.

It is straight that now his family is away from the party so now all blameworthiness has been given to him because at time of Emergency Indira Gandhi was the proprietor and Sanjay Gandhi was under her shadow.

The Editor of Chief of this book is finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee. This book has analyzed fittingly role of Rajiv Gandhi and p.v narasimha rao one one hand this is achievement of this book. But on the other hand has eulogize role of Jaiprakash Narayan at the time of Emergency and J.P agitation but termed it as un-target agitation. In fact this book has also alleged that every agitator at that point of time was erroneous.

Book has assumed that Rajiv Gandhi was abortive in making the party further potent. And first time has praised the role of P.V narasimha rao. Nehru-Gandhi family has been praised for being booming for running government for five years being from outside and also would be remembered for financial regulation shaped.

And as expected the blame for the Babri Demolition has been set to BJP state government and leaders of BJP. Role of Central Congress government has not been specified. Like this illustration only Rahul Gandhi has been eulogize for bringing back congress in Uttar Pradesh, National Election 2010 but no information has been precise for ghastly performance of the party in Bihar State Elections. This book would be go into raptures over for number of right scrutinizing.

The ne plus ultra of soulful poetry: Kumar Vishwas

A charismatic persona, gifted with a mellifluous voice, none other than Dr. Kumar Vishwas mesmerized the students and staff at Centre of Media Studies, University of Allahabad on Dec 21st 2010, on the occasion of Photography Exhibition organized at Nirala Art Gallery.

Dr. Vishwas is a well known face among youth. His verses unfold the reality and dilemma of youth’s life and his spontaneity and versatility captivate the audience.

I would also like to thank our course coordinator Mr. Dhananjay Chopra for organizing Dr. Vishwas’s visit in our department.

Dr. Vishwas was here to interact with students on Media and Society. He addressed the students on commercialization in Media, degrading Educational system and extinguishing morality and virtues in our society and among youth. He also targeted the national icons for their irresponsible behavior and mentioned what they could have done for the welfare of the Nation. His innovative ideas, inspirational views and stupendous words left the students spellbound.

As a flower is incomplete without its fragrance similarly Dr. Vishwas’s presence is incomplete without his poetry...
His poems created a sublime aura and as soon as he quoted his most celebrated lines… “Koi deewana kehta hai koi pagal samajhta hai….” the audience showed their appreciation with a huge round of applause.

As we know, ‘no good movie is too long’ likewise we felt his presence was too short. He promised to visit us again and then took a view of the majesty of Photography Exhibition.

With this the gala came to an end.
But the glorious memories will ever remain..

PRESS VISIT: A Report

On 3rd December 2010, Friday we the students of Centre of Media Studies of University of Allahabad were very excited as our Course Coordinator Mr. Dhananjay Chopra had planned a press visit for students of B.A. in Media Studies Sem I in association with HINDUSTAN MEDIA VENTURES LIMITED. At 11:30 am from our centre we department for Hindustan Media Ventures limited, Naini by a bus. Within an hour we reached our destination.

As we reached there we entered a small hall and there we were introduced to Mr. Umesh Dhuliya, Head In charge of HMVL. There students were divided into groups. Then we were taken to CTP room. It was a room where CTP (Computer to Plate) machine was placed. Also some computer systems were there and they were connected to Editor’s office by lease line. Mr. Dhuliya explained us the steps involved in printing a newspaper. The very first step is that the Advertisement Department releases a dummy, allocating the place for advertisement. The editorial board is free to use the remaining space. The headlines, pictures etc are decided by the desk. When the entire page is decided then it is sent to printing press by lease line which connects the office and the press.

The work of CTP machine thus starts. The CTP machine in HMVL is from Germany and costs 1.5 Crore. In 15 minutes we get four plate output thus saves time and is technologically upgraded. An aluminum sheet with polymer coating is inserted into the device. Laser beam technology is used and computer is connected to the machine. Hence the page appears on the aluminum sheet with clear text and figures. This demonstration was followed by practical experience of how newspaper is actually printed. Outside the CTP room there was a workplace where machinery was setup. At the initial position a big roll of paper was adjusted so as to print the newspaper. The arrangement was according to four colours viz... Red, Yellow, Cyan and Black. Aluminum sheets were placed and the percentage of colours was adjusted. By step by step processing the newspaper is finally obtained as output. Besides we were also given basic information regarding newspaper printing. E.g. grey line at the bottom of the newspaper and registration mark etc. used for verification of proper printing.

We also got an opportunity to interact with Mr. Mukul Mishra, Editor; Mr. Brijendra Singh, Chief Reporter; and Mr. Umesh Dhuliya, Head In charge of the plant. They gave us much information, answered our queries and also motivated us to work hard in order to excel in our field.

We captured a few moments in our cameras and returned. A press visit as a media student was a memorable moment for all of us and equally beneficial for our future.

Bihar Protagonist !!!

E
very political connoisseur has projected that Nitish Kumar will come in power in Bihar but from this gigantic margin nobody has even thought. Infact when results were out Nitish Kumar in his first press conference acknowledged that he is also flabbergasted from that huge margin. In recent decades this is the prevalent win of any political alliance in Northern India. Populace of Bihar voted for Nitish’s brilliant administration, good strategies and right political mindset from more than 80 % of seats.

Subsequent to two days of result of Bihar Election Sonia Gandhi visited Allahabad to address a immense public meeting as per Rahul Gandhi Uttar Pradesh Agenda 2012. After the loss in Bihar the biggest question which has arrived that it will impact national politics? The real show is about to begin with the run down for 2014.... Rahul Gandhi, who gives hope to people, has been found lacking and lagging in matters where the real "aam aadmi" is involved. Both the mother and son tried to play the blame game by trying to say no development has taken place in Bihar. They forgot that their party has been in the saddle for a lot longer than JD (U).

Lalu Prasad Yadav once said “Jab-Tak rahe ga samose me aalu tab tak rahega Bihar me Lalu”. Lalu Prasad Yadav is now in trouble. First he ruined relation with the Center and dropped alliance at the Central level with the Congress. Now when the results are out Lalu is seems to be in a quandary. I have heard Lalu several times; his tone of speaking is appealing and tempting. But after loss in state elections his speaking looked grotesque. From this scene the come back seems to be in jeopardy. Now many more “Chhat Puja” of Lalu will be execute in leader of opposition Bungalow’s Swimming Pool. In, fact Rabdi Devi lost from both the seats she fought. One of my classmate Stuti today enlighten that Lalu in one of those spot even sang a song to attract populace. From my point of view the biggest problem with Lalu is his over confidence that he had during his tenure in Bihar. If he has worked efficiently like Nitish is, then he will not be out of clout.

In his political rally Nitish stated that he has not done enough so vote for him for another five years so that he can make Bihar more progressive like it was there in past. Bihar populace without any doubt voted for him rejecting old hero Lalu and helicopter waving rally master Rahul Gandhi. I am not criticizing Rahul Gandhi but during his statements through out campaign he avowed that all the development which Nitish has done is from the funds sent by the Center. Mr Rahul Gandhi is this personal wealth of your government?

In the past five years, Nitish Kumar hasn't done anything world-shattering. He focused neurotically on three issues: the liberation of Bihar from a state of widespread mayhem, the construction of roads and bridges, and incentives to improve the school enrolment of girls by offering them free school uniforms and bicycles. All three measures were measured by instant and visible returns. The enhanced personal security for ordinary citizens and better communications led to the immediate release of suppressed demand resulting in increased trade and commerce and, most important, an enthusiasm for a better life. And the spectacle of rows and rows of girls in uniform cycling to and from school invoked quiet pride in a society where the demand for education is voracious.

The support for the NDA in this election cut across castes and communities. According to the post-poll survey conducted by the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, the NDA won majority support among all the upper castes, all the backward castes apart from the Yadavs, and all the Scheduled Castes apart from the Pasis and Dusadhs. The Muslim vote was split in three, with the Congress also making a mark. What bound Bihar together was a common nostalgia for a better life, the underlying logic of economic reforms. Nitish verified that when it comes to aspirations, there is no disparity amid India and Bharat. Bihar 2010 marks the coup of unsophisticated modernism over subaltern conservatism. It's a victory that has profound implications for the future of India.

Ramachandra Guha calls NItish, "India's Obama!!” i don't understand why indians are obsessed with western personality in that way kalidas is the shakespeare of india sumitranandan pant is the wordsworth of india and now nitish obama of india nitish is way ahead of obama he has come to power second time he managed to balance two parties although he is from a regional party. i don't know what obama has done in america so special but he is riding on the hope of whole of the world. And this hope helped him to get noble peace prize when he was not even 1 month old.

RAGGING – A MENACE !

The supreme court defines ragging in following words
“any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by any act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student indulging in rowdy or indisciplined activities which causes or likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear of apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such students will not do in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student”.

It is very clear from the above definition that the apex court has taken into consideration all kinds of acts faced by a fresher or a junior while subjected to ragging by the seniors, but a very paradoxical situation is that it still persists despite of all the rules, regulations and directives of courts and authorities concerned. None could claim to have stopped it 100%

Ragging has become a menace and a cause of fear and shock not only for a fresher but to his parents too who are sending their loved ones for pursuing higher education by investing a lot of hard earned money. Many intellectual youth have become the victims of ragging, some have suffered nervous breakdown, some left the institutes, some committed suicide and some were murdered brutally by their seniors.

The most highlighted case in this regard took place in 1986 when a medical student of Annamalai University in Tamil Nadu was brutally murdered by his senior only because he refused to do whatever was asked to be done.

A recent example of the menace took place in Banaras Hindu University, commerce department where 3 students out of which 1 was physically challenged were subjected to sexual abuse and exploitation in the name of ragging. The dean however had to resign afterwards, but the incident very clearly comes out with the truth that universities and colleges have failed to stop the menace upto some extent. Another important agenda/point to be pondered over is the cultural degradation of the students. Such kind of an act brings into limelight the situation persisting in the homes of such students.

According to me the parents are also no less responsible for the situation. Only those students can get into these kind of heinous practices who are not taught the moral and ethical values and who are not aware of love and affection towards others.

How can someone ragg another student even when he had to face the similar kind of situation and problems the previous year?

This shows their mindset. Either they forget the way they were treated and the pains which they suffered or they are certainly of diyonisian nature who enjoy harming others. Whatever the truth is, but the fact is that the students are being ragged continuously. Though the supreme court has issued very strict and stringent laws and guidelines to curb the menace yet a point to ponder over is

Why do few students resort to such socially unacceptable behaviour and don’t understand the problem of their own juniors?
Have they become totally inhumane?

A serious thought to above question comes out with a fault in the existing education system as well. The present education system is intended to create intelligentsia, but they absolutely lack the moral and ethical values. No one teaches their students moral and behavioural values. There is no place for ethics in our education system. Results thus have become meaningless. Teachers also have failed to cultivate a good citizen in such students. Academic qualification alone is of no value because it does not teach the students to share the problems of others and to spread love to all.

Being decisive, I think that to stop the menace of ragging it is necessary to inculcate the importance of good character, importance of love and affection towards their juniors and fellow beings. Only then we will be successful in stopping the menace in its true sense.

It becomes important to quote the following words of great thinker which I think would arise a feeling of shame in those students who indulge themselves in such heinous practices.

If money is lost, nothing is lost.
If health is lost, something is lost.
If character is lost, everything is lost.

Eid-a Sterling Festival!

India is a land of diverse religions, cultures and traditions. Many festival are celebrated in India like Holi, Diwali, Christmas, Lohri, Pongal etc And eid is one of them.

Eid is the festival of Muslims. The word “EID” appears in Qur’an, meaning “Solemn festival”. Muslims celebrate two eid. One is “Eid-ul-fitr” and another is “Eid-Al-Adha”

Muslims believe that Prophet Muhammad was visited many times by Jibril who taught him the holy knowledge of verses. This sacred knowledge consist of the code of conduct that Allah want his people to maintain of earth. It is inscribed in verses which are completed in the holy Qur’an, the most sacred book in Islam.

It is said that the sacred knowledge was revealed to Muhammad during the month of Ramadan. As a mark of respect to Allah and show gratitude to him for the true knowledge that he gifted to his sons and daughters, the Prophet ask his followers to pass the month of Ramadan in fasting, prayers and other austerities and end the month long non indulgence with festive celebrations. This is how Eid-Ul-Fitr was started.

Eid-Ul-Fitr is the biggest festival of Muslims. On this occasion people buy new clothes, decorate their houses and prepare variety of Sewai. Sewai is the special dish which is prepared by everyone. It is forbidden to fast on the day of Eid. They go to mosque to offer Eid namaz. It is sunnah that the Sadaqat-Ul-Fitr, an obligatory charity is paid to the poor and the needy before performing the Eid prayers by all those adult muslims who are required to pay Zakat. People visit each other house and great each other by formal embrace. Eidis are frequently given to children and immediate relatives.

The festival gives the message of peace, equality, brotherhood and brings oneself back to the normal course of life after a long month of fast.

Eid-Al-Adha is the latter of the two Eid festivals celebrated by Muslims. Eid-al-Adha celebrations start after the Hajj. The date is approximately 70 days after the end of month of Ramadan.

Greater Eid is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to commemorate the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son Ishmael as an act of obedience to God, before God intervened to provide him with a ram to sacrifice instead and from that particular day it has become customary to sacrifice cattle’s.

Animal to be sacrificed should be approved by Sharia that it has to be one of the cattle. The animal to be sacrificed should have reached required age and is free from any obvious defect.

The sacrificed meat is divided into three equal parts to be distributed to others. The family retains one third of the share, another one third is given to relatives, friends and neighbors. And the remaining one third gave to the poor and needy.

Children’s Day!!

Children’s Day is here again and children ready to celebrate their day with great fervor and felicity.14 November is birthday of the first Prime Minister of India, Pt Jawaharlal Nehru. His love for children made him Chacha Nehru and his birthday as “Children’s Day”.

“Children’s Day” reminds me of sweet memories of my childhood days. Children’s Day for me was all about celebrations, gifts and lots of fun. This is what Children aspect on their day a special treatment indeed. “Children’s are innocence and small gestures make them happy……..” well this was thing of past, today 21st century children are different. They are smart, witty, focused and ambitious. They are techno lovers. They are with the pace of the world. They are all-rounder.

In a research done by Dr Iti Tiwari, a sociologist, most of children want to do something different in their life, they love experimenting. They are more focused in their studies and love spending their life in doing interesting activities. They are full of new ideas and zeal to do something. Its good that children are with the pace of the world. They are technology freak they can handle most complex device. Even a child lock feature in television sets are better operated by children than their parents. Also such cleverness before time gives a pave to all sorts of nefarious activities.

So they are alarming question, Are our children loosing their innocence and not able to enjoy the ease of childhood??? If the answer is Yes it’s the time to act.

Children are always eager to learn and if they are molded in an efficient manner and proper surrounding they will turn into most responsible and intelligent youth of nation. Running fast so as to catch everything around you is not bad but its equally important to be alert and not stumble cause it will shatter everything you have gathered. Its responsibility of elders to provide such upbringing and environment to children that their innocence is not lost! Only then Children’s Day will have its relevance.

Women are the contour of Progress!!

Women in India have no privilege and even not treated equivalent as men. Our country is one of the emerging super powers and is also counted in the list of advancing nations of the world. Women are half the population of our state hence no further development can take place without their involvement.

I will not be off beam to articulate that women are at this instant in different fields like Science & Technology, Army and several others. But very extraordinary women ascend as men do not covet women to go at the forefront of them, instead they yearn for women to serve them and gaze after the household so that they can be superior to women.

It is a very somber predicament that subsequent to so many years of Independence the attitude of Society towards women has not distorted in our realm. Even then India is becoming sophisticated in each and every field production of Nuclear Weapons and adopting eastern ethnicity but devoid of encroachment and involvement of women this development will not outrival if we are contented then we are in a mistake. We can’t develop suitably till the women in our country are not treated by the same token to men, till women get identical rights reminiscent of men. Even nowadays when malevolence practices like Sati System are banned we hear cases every now and then on one hand. And on the other hand evils like female infanticide and dowry continues in the society. That is the reason why girl child is considered as encumber for her parents and her birth is seldom rejoiced.

The bigotry between a girl and a boy starts from the birth in nutrition, education and freedom. As more than half of the populace of our countryside lives in pastoral areas. The boys in bucolic areas are given education but not girls. Girls don’t acquire alike sovereignty so they are illiterate and remain toward the back in the course of out their lives and are also considered mediocre to boys.

In our society girls are strained to amend their surnames after marriage. Even the inventive identity of the individual lass is also lost from which the humankind can identify her. She is not even given share in the parental property. Women play an important role in the society she gives birth to the children and plays roles of mother, sister, daughter and wife.

If any entity asks the question to our selves that women are treated uniformly to men the answer will be no only. The alacrity of development can only outclass if discrimination between a girl and a boy stops. And both are been treated equally.

This so called unfairness and discrimination should be wiped out from our mind and society. If this rung is not attained then it can indubitably hinder the development process of our country. Government in last decade have taken numerous steps like Free education for girls so that they can progress at the forefront. Some days in the past reservation bill for the women in parliament has been passed in the upper house of the parliament. It is an tremendous tread taken in the elevation of women. We all as an Indians should stop discriminating a boy and a girl. As someone immense has precisely said

The first step towards solving a problem is to begin”.
