Underprivileged of Planning Commission

When I passed and reached the new semester I was blissful as now I would be able to study Economics. It was nice for me as I like politics and now I can link politics of economy and vice versa economy of politics. Last week the planning commission of our country released the new statistics of the poor. I feel bizarre when these high grade officers sitting in big centers at Delhi calculate the number of poor in our country. They do this only to satisfy their political bosses. They do this to give happy feeling to the politician who from these statistics desires to come back in the government.

Therefore last week it was announced by the commission that during 2004 to 2009, more than five crore underprivileged commoners have come over the limit line. After listening this surely Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi, must have been felling happy but when analyzer like me started to figure out how this magic has pulled off? The outcome is astonishing this enchantment has occurred because the border line for the underprivileged had been altered. Planning Commission have now decided that who earns 29 rupees in urban and 22 rupees in rural areas would not been considered as poor.  So the new-fangled mechanism to shorten the poor is altering the limit line. Preceding year when commission stated 32 rupees in urban areas ruckus was the outcome because all of us knows in metro towns like Delhi and Mumbai a beggar also earns 100 rupees a day. After having food at two times a day this 100 rupees is certainly not a saving. Therefore for other necessities these beings have to beg around. They only desire of these people is to save at least that much cash from this they can craft a shelter in slum areas. But only for this minute desire the initial funding is of lacks so this desire is only a dream in our country nothing more. Accordingly if they are not from the underprivileged section of our country so what exactly is poverty?

As the class-representative of my class Janardan says and I quote ‘According to government poverty and unemployment doesn’t subsist in our country.’ I don’t comprehend how; they are not ashamed after stating 29 rupees as limit line? How they are not embarrassed after fooling their political bosses? I am sure if anybody communicates with these officers behind closed doors they will articulate that these policies are useless because major part of the money goes to the corrupt officers. This was attest when I conducted a twitter interview of a senior officer of planning commission that these schemes are futile and if government gives underprivileged directly through the money order each poor will receive more than eight thousand rupees and directly they will come out of the actual limit line. When I asked him why we are not doing this? He laughed and articulated reason is political. After Manmohan Singh’s government stated his second tenure all schemes are developed by the team Mrs. Gandhi. Manrega and security bill are their harvest. Schemes are wonderful   but fact of the matter is the system of our nation is not favorable as it is jam packed with corrupt products. If I take an example from my hometown Allahabad, the condition of river Ganga is awful, in spite of great schemes by the government; this is because of ill governance and corruption. Moreover how has the clout to question on Mrs. Gandhi and her team?

Consequently, these officers of the planning commission have discovered novel method of hoodwinking populace and their bosses and finally present a statistics which utters that we are developing. Whether number of poor decreases or not they don’t care? Their master motive is to satisfy their political bosses. There is no problem if their bosses change when government changes their theorem will not change. Their motive would never been for the development of commoners but only to please ‘Mantri Ji’.

Hindi writer Amar Kant presented Jnanpith Award

Noted Hindi littérateur Amar Kant yesterday received the prestigious Jnanpith Award at a glittering function here.

The 87-year-old writer was presented with the award by renowned critic Namvar Singh at a function organised at the Allahabad Museum.
Expressing his happiness over receiving the award, Amar Kant said he saw it “more as a challenge than an
accomplishment as the award is likely to raise the expectations of readers from me”.
“I hope I will be able to live up to their expectations,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Namvar Singh said it was “a historic occasion when the entire team of the Bharatiya Jnanpith Trust has come to this town in the honour of one of the greatest and most popular writers of our times”.
Ravindra Kalia, member of the Selection Board of the Bharatiya Jnanpith, showered praise on the writer.
“We feel proud to have Amarkant as one of the recipients of the Jnanpith Award. In view of his old age and poor health, we felt it imperative to visit his home town to present him with this award,” he said.

Born in 1925 in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district, Amarkant came to Allahabad in 1947 for higher studies and made the city his home.
After Firaq Gorakhpuri, Mahadevi Verma and Naresh Mehta, he became the fourth Jnanpith award recipient from the city.
The octogenarian writer has authored several novels and short stories. He was recently conferred with the Sahitya Akademi award for Inhin Hathiyaaron Se (a novel set against the backdrop of the Freedom struggle).
Amar Kant had been chosen for the 45th Jnanpith award jointly with another Hindi writer Shrilal Shukla, best known for his satirical novel Raag Darbaari.
Shukla passed away on October 28 last year, barely a months after the awards were announced.

Review of Pan Singh Tomar

Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, Paan Singh Tomar showcases the sad plight of the unsung sportsmen in India. The director uses the famous athlete named Paan Singh Tomar as an example. Irrfan Khan plays the lead role of in the film, whereas Mahi Gill essays the role of the wife of the protagonist.

Director Tigmanshu manages to keep the audiences' interest intact with many nail biting scenes. Paan Singh Tomar draws inspiration from Shekhar Kapur'sBandit Queen, which is also a biopic on Phoolan Devi.

A plot like this is likely to turn monotonous after a certain time. However, Tigmanshu has made a serious endeavour to grab your attention by focussing on the reason behind why Paan Singh decides to become a dacoit. In fact, the motive is so compelling that you begin to relate to the character essayed by Irrfan Khan.

There are few light moments too that makes you smile. The scene in which Paan Singh sends his children out of the house to buy lemon juices so that he could spend some time alone with his wife, essayed by Mahie Gill is nice.

Dialogues (Rajendra Gupta), editing (Aarti Bajaj), cinematography (Aseem Mishra) and screenplay is excellent. In fact, dialogues are so good that it help build the plot, which is quite rare in Bollywood movies.

Though you may leave the theatre with a heavy heart, you can be satisfied that you watched a meaningful film that came true from the heart!

Story

The story of Paan Singh Tomar is set in Chambal and revolves around the life of a brilliant athlete named Paan Singh Tomar (Irrfan Khan), who brings a lot of fame to the country by winning steeplechase, a form of race, at the Indian National Games consecutively for seven years. However, after his retirement, he is forced to go to Chambal where he pursues farming. A series of events and happenings in his life makes him take up the gun and become a dacoit.

Performances
Paan Singh Tomar would not have worked out if not for the outstanding performance of Irrfan Khan. It is obvious that Irrfan has trained himself to justify the role that he did. Irrfan is 'perfect' in every way and not once does he falter in his portrayal of the character.

Mahie Gill is brilliant and has given a wonderful performance, and so has Vipin Sharma and Rajendra Gupta. All other actors have delivered a good performance.

Overall, Paan Singh Tomar is a must watch movie!

Directed By: Tigmanshu Dhulia
Cast: Irrfan Khan, Mahie Gill, Vipin Sharma, Imran Hasnee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui
